• if you can, I use it without the battery, but I'm thinking about putting the battery in, if the light goes out, the camera would still be activated

• Yes, absolutely. Someone said, if the light goes off and the battery is in, the camera will be working. Remember, if no power, no WIFI to the base, that's means, no communication to the base. The base station runs on power, so the WIFI also.
