• The interface is required to provide accessory power for the aftermarket radio, which is not in the factory harness. It is also required to maintain the integrity of the Class2 data bus in the truck, which it also gets its signal to provide the accessory power for the aftermarket radio, even in vehicles without OnStar or steering wheel controls
