http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Waves/mwoven.html Yes, you are probably getting "radiation" in the form of visible light that's emitted from the light source inside the microwave. Your microwave oven emits no ionizing forms of radiation. Other common things in your household that emit radiation are: anything that uses bluetooth, your wireless router, granite countertops, smoke detectors, bananas, and brazil nuts. Additionally flying and living at high altitudes exposes you to more radiation than you'd otherwise normally encounter. That doesn't mean you should systematically eliminate all these items and behaviors from your life or move from Colorado to the Dead Sea thinking you'll spare yourself from additional cancer risk. The likelihood of your death being hastened by any form of radiation is incredibly small compared to things you do every day such as bathing, using a traditional stove, or driving a car. You could even take the plastic/glass cover off the door of your microwave and it would be just as safe. Despite the fact you cannot see them, those microwaves are too big to get through the holes in the metal grate.
