“Special screwdriver to remove the back. The microwave stopped working last night. I want to take it apart to get to the fuse that is burnt out and replace it. It has an odd shape looking of driver that is needed. Is this a special driver o r can I go and buy it. Thanks”

Yes, you can buy one. I don't know what it's called so I would take a picture of it with a cell phone and take it to Home Depot. I have one that I bought in a repair kit from CompUSA years ago so I would say you should be able to find it either at a home repair center or, if not, at a computer center.

The purpose of these is to discourage those that aren't familar with or qualified to make repairs to this machine as to protect them from potential harm. I would suggest finding an appliace repair shop or someone familiar with microwave circuitry. I suggest this just incase something more serious isn't wrong with the machine. OR, since microwaves are typically less than $200, just buy a new one and add the extended warrantee. Thats what I did and it has paid off twice now in the last 4 years. We are hard on microwaves. And no, I don't work for best buy or the microwave manufacture. Just thinking of your safety since a malfunctioning microwave oven can be pretty hazardous to you and more importantly your children if you have any. On the other hand, if you feel qualfied and can find the correct security driver tip, go for it..
