Does this camera take photos while recording? null

No. This is a dedicated video camera. However with All-Intra recording you grab any one frame. This is not a replacement for high speed frame grabs. I have an FZ-2500 Panasonic, 1" sensor, 20MP that is more capable for this type of task. The x1500 has better image stabilization, a smoother zoom rocker, the XLR audio input, much longer battery life, and 4k60, whereas FZ2500 is 4k30.
