If lightning strikes will the phone go out? null

It depends on the phone company. I have my plugged into a surge protector.

Not if you loose electricity. Best to buy a splitter for your phone line so you can put an inexpensive phone on it that does not need to have base plugged into electric. Or just temporarily switch out the Panasonic for the non-electric phone if power goes out. No phones that need electric will work in power outages no matter the brand.
