“how do we take it off hold by mistake i must have pushed a button that put it on hold”

• Hi! In order to put a call on Hold, press MENU during an outside call, choose Hold and then press SELECT. To release Hold, you need to press the Talk button. • There is no "Hold" button. You may have pressed the [Flash/Call Waiting] button (it's #10 on thr diagram). Preasing it again should take you back to your original call.
