Hello, Jerry! it is possible to listen to the messages using the handset. You can listen to new messages by pressing MENU on the handset, then press symbol # and enter code 323. Also, listening to all messages can be done by using MENU #324. -C

Yes you can retrieve messages from any handset, as well as screen messages coming in real-time from any handset. Our old Panasonic system would only play messages coming in at the base. This is a great improvement feature.
