I suggest you find out what material you are dealing with and how deep you can go into the wall before you hit the brick on the fireplace. Lowe's or Home Depot will have a proper wall anchor if you need something different than what is provided with the mounting bracket. If the holes are shallow (less than 2"), I would suggest you mount a piece of wood horizontally (cleat) using several wall anchors instead of only 2. Then mount your bracket on the piece of wood.
