A:Answer Until someone else chimes in I will state that my previous Sony 3D Blu-ray player played just about any format file via USB port backed up to portable hard drive. Some of those same M2t files play fine on this Philips BDP7501 player, some play without sound and the 3D files do not play at all. JPEG/picture files can be viewed fine. Here's the official playback info from the manual:
"USB storage devices supporting USB2.0 / USB3.0
MP4, MPEG2, MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, JPEG, Picture-in-Picture commentary, subtitles or other extras for BD-ROM ver. 2 (Profile 2.0 / Profile 1.1)"
The only reason I chose this player is that at this time it is one of the few that work with the Epson 5040ub projector in my budget.
Until a firmware update I will have to play my files through the computer attached to home theater or hook the Sony back up as a media player.
