If the switch to the lamp is off the bulb loses power and is no longer visible to the Hue Bridge. The Bridge app will show the bulb(s) unreachable. Once the light switch is powered on the bulb will automatically turn on and the Bridge will reconnect to it. This is handy if you need lights on quickly without calling out the command or looking for your device. For example, when I am walking in the door with a handful of groceries and cannot yell to the kitchen to turn them on, and/or reach for my phone, I can flip the switch off and on and the lights come on. Hopefully this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You must keep the light in the on position and control it through the app. On the Hub app there is a box showing whether it is on, or off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the switch on your lamp is off, then your lights will not turn on. The app will indicate your lights are on, but if the switch is off, the lights will not be on, because the light switch or lamp switch is off. You can still control the lights with the switch on the lamp, but in order for the lights to work automatically, you have to make sure the lights are on, and then use the app to turn them back off if you desire them to come on later, or go off when you leave and turn on when you return.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the switch if the physical device is off then lights will not turn on. The bulbs need the switch to always be on and the hue will control whether the bulbs turn on or off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will have to have the table lamp light set to on always for the hub to communicate with bulb.
