Thanks for your responses. I contacted Phillips Hue before I purchased and they said I could use the regular light switches if needed to turn the bulbs on and off. For example, if the internet goes down, if a smart device is not working or available nearby, if I lose my voice and do not want to pull up an app, if I forget the keywords, if my family wants to turn the lights on and off when they visit (they are not smart friendly), etc. This worked perfectly for a week, but then stopped working. I finally got a good answer from their Customer Service today. There are no special settings required for this functionality. For example, having to leave the lights on in the app. There will be a push to the app in about a month that will fix the issue, which apparently started with their recent app update.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A couple of possible reasons. You will need to always leave the light switches on to use these. Turning off the light switches will disconnect the power to them. Also, be sure to update the software in all of the bulbs using the update feature in the app. After you do that, select the bulb in the app, and select "Configure Power-on behavior" from the ellipsis in the top right corner of the app. Select "power loss recovery" to have the bulbs remember their setting when they do lose power and power is restored.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They will if the lights are “on” in the Phillips hue app. But the purpose of smart lights is to not use switches. If you must use a switch why not get the dimmer switch by hue that gives you more control ?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the A19 bulb in the socket it sounds like the WiFi part of the light bulb has the light turned off. Try setting the light on and to 100% then use the physical switch to turn off the bulb. I assume you want to keep the voice functionality and use the switch otherwise you would have just put a normal bulb back in the socket.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Check the app. If you use a Phillips lights app. You may have Turn the Lights off and the app. Or you may have set it so they only come on when you turn on the app.
