“Should multiple bridges be used since each 4-pack comes with one, or are you better to use just 1 bridge, even if you are connecting multiple rooms and for arguments sake, hooking up 20+ bulbs in the house?”

you just need one hue bridge per house since you connect it to your router. I bought two kits since it was cheaper and gave one bridge and bulb as a gift and kept the rest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use one Bridge adding the bulbs is easy and 1 bridge can handle 50 devices and you can add another bridge also. One bridge for the first 50 is my suggestion.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Multiple bridges are not needed. Each bridge can connect up to 50 items (bulbs, strips, accessories). Using more than 1 bridge is just extra and will only take up more bandwidth on your wifi and constantly search for lights that are already connected. Hope this helps :)
