No, you need it to be connected to the router.. There is no need for this to be in your room. This doesn't control anything. It just connects the Hue Lights to the wifi connection so you can control everything. It's literally a bridge from the internet to the smart lights. What you should have in your room is an Alexa, or google home, home pod etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, it has to be connected with the Ethernet wire to the router. Your router should be central to your house so that’s where you want the hub too. Once you set up the hub initially, you don’t have to do anything with it again.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you want to use the hub, it needs to be connected to the router. Many of the Hue bulbs offer Bluetooth connectivity, however less capabilities I believe.
