You're going to need their bridge. I have two bridges, and opposite ends of our living space to ensure coverage to all devices.

Hue works off zigbee while the lock uses bluetooth NFC the R1 adds remote capability to lock. The R1 needs to be near lock

The Hue bridge/hub, only works with Hue bulbs and light strips... It is not a universal home automation bridge/hub. You would need a bridge/hub, from someone like Insteon for devices like you mentioned. I am using an Insteon hub, a Hue bridge (same as a hub) and two Amazon Echo devices to give me complete voice control over the entire system, including both bridge/hub systems.
