Yes! The app has animation settings that you can create. I use it to turn on the lights when the sun sets so my dogs aren’t in the dark while I’m at work. The only “down” side is that the lamp has to be “on”, turned “off” in the app and then it’ll turn on when you schedule it to do so. So your light is basically on all day/night.

Yes, as long as you have the Hue Bridge, you can actually program the light to come on instantly or gradually get brighter over a period of time. Since this is battery operated also, I take it into my back yard when I have visitors. As long as it’s on about 40% brightness, it will last all night... just FYI.
