This is the light strip. This box is the extension, which is 40 inches. You need the base box, which is 80 inches, for the extension to work. Yes, you can cut it, but it needs to be cut in specific locations. I believe they are labeled on the strip. ...I just don’t know if the section that was cut would still be functional. In my setup, cutting was not required.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is an actual light strip and I believe they are 4 feet long. Yes, you can cut them and even solder them back together where you cut to go around corners.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to have the base light strip AND you have to have a Phillips Hue Bridge first; you connect this to the initial light strip (it's more expensive and won't say "extension" on it). The directions tell you how you can trim it, but the part that you cut off is then not usable. The whole thing is very expensive but I've been redoing the lights in my place and I must say...the Hue products are very cool and very addictive.
