Wiring is required to power the light but you can control the device wirelessly through the Hue Hub and/or Alexa.

It’s the bulbs that come with it that allow for the smart features. If you wanted to, you could purchase whatever outdoor light fixture you want and then use smart bulbs with it. It would be exactly the same thing as this except you would be getting a light fixture that’s probably more attractive and durable.
