The lights work with Alexa. The dimmer switch independently controls the lights. Two different controls for the lights that can perform the same functions

This specific Hue Dimmer Switch is essentially a remote to control Phillips Hue lights. The Dimmer Switch does not have a microphone, so it cannot active Alexa by itself. To use Alexa with Phillips Hue lights, you need another device that has Alexa built-in.
