Of course it is legal. I took out the old light switch, and screwed the wires together using plastic electrical connectors, so the circuit is hardwired on. The on/off function is now done by the lights themselves. Just remember to turn the power off at the circuit breaker before playing with the wires..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as you properly cap the wires in the box and leave a removable proper cover plate on the box.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would need to check with your local governing agency to see what it legal and not legal to follow electrical codes. I recommend you purchase a switch that cannot be switched when you flip the paddle and add the phillips hue switch to control the lights you have on the circuit as long as they are phillips hue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Code will tell you where you need to put the switches, as long as you don't cover up a switch and not replace it then you should be fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you could do this and put a blank out cover over the wires down fall if you loose WiFi you can not turn off or on your lights by doing this so not Recommended I installed the hue switch next to the other switches for this reason
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I cannot answer any legal questions as I am not an attorney, don't claim to be one, and don't play one on TV. However, the Phillips Hue switches are not switches that wire into your electrical system at all. They only send a wireless signal to your Hue Bridge that is plugged into a wall outlet and into your home ethernet router. Then the Bridge sends a signal to your lights to do whatever function you have set in your Hue software to do when that particular button is pressed. I would advise that you keep the existing wall switch you have, that way you can still turn electricity off to that light if you ever have to replace the fixture, change a bulb and don't want to have to change a hot bulb, etc. Some people do have always on fixtures in their home or building, but those fixtures usually have a pull switch or something attached to them.
