Yes you need this Hue dimmer if you want to dim the hue lights without a smartphone or Alexa. You should not use a standard wall dimmer with hue lights. It will not give the desired effect and may damage your hue lights. At a minimum you would need to keep the existing standard switch fully powered and then allow the hue dimmer switch to control dimming and power functions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The way your Philips Hue smart lighting is installed and used is wasteful. You are using it like any cheap traditional lighting and wiring it via the traditional way. You are forgetting that this is a SMART BULB that is supposed to wirelessly connect to your wifi, and can be controlled thru your mobile phone, alexa, or this Philips Hue dimmer switch. All in a WIRELESS way.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They have to be Hue lights bulbs or made by hue for them to be able to work. This is not a universal remote.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just adding this lighting system after a kitchen remodel , I noticed that the standard wall outlet will turn the lights on and off but you cannot dim with a generic switch. The dimming needs to be done from the app or from the Phillips wireless wall switch. I have the Philips switch and I love it. Only problem for me is that it only comes in white.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no, a normal dimmer will actually harm these bulbs and cause them to fail sooner. You need a hue dimmer
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hue lights are not supposed to be used with a dimmer switch. They dim via the hub and software.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you will need this dimmer to operate them but if you set up your smart phone or a tablet to operate the system you can dim all lights from the ap without a switch myself set everything up to run from anywhere in the world I have a internet connection on my smart phone
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Correct. A standard dimmer switch from Home Depot will only reduce the voltage on the lamps. This is fine for resistance bulbs but for LED's it won't work. LED's have circuitry to adjust the voltage to the few volts necessary to drive the LED crystals and will compensate for more or less voltage than the normal 120 VAC. This defeats the normal dimmer. The HUE dimmer is different, sending an electronic WiFi signal to the LED bulbs that directs them to adjust internally to the desired brightness. The phone apps are capable of sending the same commands to the bulbs, achieving the same results as the HUE dimmer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you need the hue dimmer switch . A dimmer switch from homedepot will NOT control the lights except for the on and off function. Also using a wall switch dimmer could harm your new hue bulbs. “ low voltage” or just use the hue app on your phone to comtrole your light or just tell Alexa what you want the build to do.
