You would need the bridge in order to program that through the app. This by itself only allows you to control the lights with the buttons on that switch.

For example, my room lights turn on gradually starting at 6:30am. That configuration can be made directly on the Philips Hue App. The dimmer is just a remote control where you can program five lights states for the same room group.
