• No. You must not use cord while shaving. That's the only negative about this shaver. It has about an hour charging time and about 50 minutes continuous shaving time.

• for this one, the 3100, there is no plug to charge, you set it on a base to charge it. My Dad has the 1100 and his has a plug and he uses it while its plugged in.
