I purchased the 4100 in Jan. -6months ago. I’m seeing black oily substance underneath the brush head, it seems louder recently, & brushing strength seems less now. Could oil be coming from inside base & am I covered for replacement? null

If all you do is a quick rinse under tap water without taking the brush head off the base motor, then the black-oily substance is a petri dish.  Separate them at least weekly, wash the top of the motor + bottom of the brush. For now, Hit it with some isopropyl alcohol or household cleaner, & then let it dry apart.  Then follow routine cleaning instructions on the Sonicare web site

You tend to see this with individuals vs family- shared motors/bases. Why?. Because the shared motor doesn't usually sit/stay attached to the brush, & gets taken apart to change brushes and charge, so if it's more likely to get cleaned and dry out while apart.

Erica if I were you I would call Philips directly.  If you registered you toothbrush it is still under warranty. Good luck!
