It kills "germs and bacteria". What about viruses? null

Yes. I work in a research lab where we actually use UV light to disinfect things all the time. The UV light will kill most any living thing that is on your phone.

It is not devised to protect against COVID.

No one has bothered to test this UVC technology for killing viruses, as viruses are not living things. You would think that the CDC or at least Consumer Reports or Dr. Oz or someone would have tested this as a way to sanitize our phones during this critical time when this virus is spreading and killing so many people and cell phones travel everywhere with us.

The hasn’t been any clinical studies on viruses. This device kills the most commons germs found on your phone. UV technology has been used for decades and has been proven effective to sanitize so much so that it is used in medical facilities across the US. This is a very good product in ensuring that I am in infecting or re-infecting myself with most common germs and bacteria found on my devices.
