“What wiring kit did you all use? A short 18 awg ground wire is what I think the harness comes with, I'm having a hard time finding an appropriate awg wire kit for this”

The unit does not draw much current. I would suggest working with the Geek Squad, they will have wiring kits to suggest. 14 or 16 AWG should work fine.
