Short Answer: Yes you can, but it won't be as good. Long Answer: I would say that technically no matter what type of speaker it is, the receiver will use it however you program it to use it. You have complete control over how it uses you setup. However, I think you would definitely not get anywhere near the same quality surround experience if you use height speakers for any purpose other than height speaker usage (Dolby Atmos)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've noticed with my experience so far that with cable and music I can use Dolby surround sound. Most of the words are very low and sound like they are under water so I have to change it to ext mono.
