QuestionIf I hook up height speakers for use with Dolby Atmos --say in the position of surround back speakers in a classic 7.1 set up--will these height speakers work like a 7.1 surround back field when listening to formats other than Dolby Atmos?

- Answer Short Answer: Yes you can, but it won't be as good. Long Answer: I would say that technically no matter what type of speaker it is, the receiver will use it however you program it to use it. You have complete control over how it uses you setup. However, I think you would definitely not get anywhere near the same quality surround experience if you use height speakers for any purpose other than height speaker usage (Dolby Atmos)

- Answer Yes. This receiver can also take advantage of using the Bi-Amp feature if your speakers have the connectors.

QuestionDoes the upscaler work? Every time I change 4K upscale to "Auto" I lose my picture completely. Sound keeps working. I have the Vizio M-70 4K TV and I really wanted a receiver to help upscale my Comcast cable box. Anyone able to make the upscaler work?

- Answer Try updating the software on the receiver. They mentioned this to me when I bought it that before the software patch it had this issue but I have the current update so I don't have the issue. Geek Squad should be able to tell you what to do to fix it.

QuestionHi, I have a 100% HDR tv lg e6p. I have my ps4 hooked to the game hdmi 4 on the receiver . It is the launch ps4. the ps4 says your tb does not support HDR. I cannot lose the function of my receiver. Please help. It says it has assignable hdmi.

- Answer I might be wrong here but if you are looking for HDR, you have to have your PS4 plugged into HDMI Inputs 1, 2, or 3. They are the ones that say HDCP2.2.

QuestionWill this receiver be able to create 7.1.2 Atmos experience? Since it has separate channels for height speakers, I am assuming tradition 7.1 with height speakers, we should able to create this.

- Answer This receiver has 7 amps built in. You can run it as a traditional 7 surround setup (center plus pairs of front, surround and rear) or as 5-2 ATMOS (center, plus pairs of front, height and surround). The receiver has pre-outs for two subwoofers, so you could run it as 7.2 or 5.2.2. I run the latter and it is awesome.

QuestionMy system worked for 3 months and developed a fault (shuts down after 10 minutes of switch on). Geek squad repaired last year but the fault has recurred again. This time I get an error message "NG: BR" before shut down. How can I fix this permanently?

QuestionTo anyone who owns the 301 - are you having any issues with the remote draining batteries rather quickly? I find myself changing batteries about every (10) days or so, even with limited use. Weird, right? I've contacted Pioneer but no response yet.

QuestionMy unit makes a clicking sound about every 30mins. to an hour. It's the same sound that you get when you power on the unit. Nothing changes in the sound coming out of the speakers. Is this normal?

- Answer Mine is doing the same exact thing. Pioneer support said its normal but none of the pioneer receivers I had in the past did it.
