This receiver has 7 amps built in. You can run it as a traditional 7 surround setup (center plus pairs of front, surround and rear) or as 5-2 ATMOS (center, plus pairs of front, height and surround). The receiver has pre-outs for two subwoofers, so you could run it as 7.2 or 5.2.2. I run the latter and it is awesome.
