In most vehicles the buttons should be able to work. I have a 2012 Ford F-250, and the buttons on the steering wheel functions the same as the original stereo, with slight differences. Check the owners guide for them. There some additional equipment needed on my setup, due to the age of the vehicle. Yours might function better if your vehicle is newer.
