Depends on your vehicle. Mine is mounted just off center below the gauges on my dash due to having a telescoping steering wheel. I've also got an AVH-1330 installed in another vehicle and that one is mounted on top of the steering column since it's tilt only. Both work well with my iPhone X, can't speak for the Galaxy

The only time people say it sounds weird is when the window is down or the air is on full blast. I think the touch screen is perfect. U dont press too hard, but if u accidentally brush it. It wont act like u made a selection. All in all, this is a great unit. (Get a 2-3 step bypass tho if u plan on using sum of the features while the vehicle is in motion.
