Does it work with a Yamaha receiver? null

I don't know, but I doubt it. I use it with a laptop. it plugs in via USB. On the laptop, I use a dvd/bluray player app that is on the laptop, and I control the laptop's app via a mouse. I have no idea what you would use to control the device if you plugged it into a yamaha receiver.

You have to have a computer to run this external drive. Also you need the proper software to play back from and to record to the drive. This info is from a Mac computer owner. With this said, if you have a Mac Mini as your center of an entertainment center this is a good drive to playback and record blu ray disc.
