All in one home theater receivers are not a preamp only it’s also an amplifier.. If it wasn’t an amplifier then it wouldn’t have any speaker terminals. It would simply have an RCA out to send the audio signal to an amplifier. This unit is a dedicated amplifier rated at 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Shane is absolutely correct that wattage per channel is an important spec when considering which home theater receiver/amplifier to buy.
