“HDMI cord question. Hi, I am interested in this blu ray player, Pioneer - BDP-80FD - Streaming 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player - Black Model: BDP-80FD SKU: 7671005 . I don't think this comes with an HDMI cord. If it doesn't, can you tell me which cord I would need? I have a 55 inch Sanyo flat screen that I'll be using with it. I saw on the website that there are MANY different HDMI cords & prices. I can't spend A LOT on one but I want one that will take advantage of the blu ray clarity. I'm new to this....thanks for the help!!!”

A basic high speed HDMI cord can be had for just a few dollars is all you need. You do not need an expensive Monster brand cable though they'd like for you to believe you do!

Anyway, to answer your question, my brother is an electrical engineer and tells me that build quality (and warranty) is why some HDMI cables cost so much more than others. That being said, ANY functioning HDMI cable should transfer the digital signal equally so save yourself some money.
