If you are not using a receiver then hook up the subwoofer to the phone jack connection on the tv you would need a splitter 3.5 mm to male RCA cable it works just fine.

Currently have this sub on a Sony receiver at high level input with no problem. Certain brands specify a certain length of sub cable to eliminate standing wave ratio on the input. If you took out Geek squad coverage on one or both units they can check the output on the amp and input on the sub. There could be a problem on either one. The coverage looks expensive at purchase time but compared to the diagnostic charges alone is very well worth it. Warranty coverage might cover repair/replacement if you are outside the exchange time limits. Factory tech. support is also an alternative, some brands I won't mention can be frustrating to say the least to deal with.
