“If my charging port is bad, will this work with my phone? Someone told us we have to plug a piece into the phones charging port still, to charge it. And I can't find the info specifically”

Clean your port with a toothpick and skip this one. If you must get a wireless charger, buy a different one as this one is way too finicky. Sometimes it just doesn't make a connection.

Such an adapter is usually part of a case or replacement phone back cover that effectively adds a Chi-compatible charging coil to the back of your phone. Google the specs on your phone's model to see if it has wireless charging built in.
