No - they do go into your ear a little. Basically a typical earbud that has a loop that fits around your ear to help hold it in place. This design allows for outside noise / voices. They are really nice if this type of design woks for you.

BUT they do enter your ear slightly — maybe 1/4 inch or so. If you look at the images on the Best Buy product page, you can see the “nub” that goes into your ear canal. Great headphones, but I would not classify these as on-ear headphones.
