• On the controller that came with XBox One S, there is an extra single jack that this plugs into and works perfectly, including the mic.

• Yes these will plug right into the controller. But you won't have a mute button for your mic.

• Definitely! You do need that controller adapter to adjust the audio, though. I've used it on my phone, too.
