The camera's light sensor, which ever one you have, is light sensitive just like your eyes. If you expose this camera to straight sun light, you will probably totally or partially ruin this sensor. Your eyes will be fine using the LCD, but the sensor is looking right at the sun. Don't do it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know it is a little late to answer but this will answer your question along with inform you about any sun pictures. Do not take a picture without using a certified solor lens filter. If you try to take a picture with a basic lens filter pointing your camera directly at the sun you risk damaging or destroying your cameras sensor. Check out YouTube for a video on the subject, theres a video of what happens to your camera.
