• Yes, it is. It does not converting of signals, but simply allows your files to flow between your source to the computer.

• There are a number of different types of USB, so your question is lacking as is. Be more specific. To put it in another way, it is what is says it is.

• Yes. That’s one of the things I use it for. However, to do all of it conversion magic to all the different types of devices it does use some power. I use this particular one for when I’m in my office connected to line-power. When traveling and using battery, to connect a single older USB device I use a simple single port adapter that does not use any power.
