Games do play in 4K but you are correct, the console will never play 4K movies. Not buying one, however, is completely your opinion. I bought one and am glad I did. The up scaling makes early games look great (like GTA V). I agree that it's not for everyone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.PS4 Pro shouldn't really looked at as an upgrade if you already have a PS4 but if you're shopping for PS4 there is no reason to buy the new Slim model over this. Spend the extra $100 and enjoy the best PlayStation 4 out today. I fully expect a refresh in the future that adds an UHD drive for 4K Blu-ray movies and possibly a GPU bump by the time Scorpio release.

For example, Battlefield one on ps4 targets 60 fps and 1080p, but in demanding scenarios the game engine drops the resolution down to 900p or even less to keep the framerate near the target but still sometimes drops to as low as 40 fps. On the PS4 Pro, the game is rendered at higher than 1080p, (1200p) this is called supersampling. The console then downscales the resolution to 1080p and the extra horsepower of the PS4 PRO manages to still keep the framerate at 60 fps 90% of the time and the supersampling gives the visuals a cleaner less jagged look. It is a huge improvement in performance but fair because they are both targeting 1080p at 60fps but the PS4 Pro achieves it more consistently. So in summary, Multiplayer games are indeed enhanced, just not to the point that it will give PS4 pro players a significant edge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are looking for your first ps4 get the pro. If you have 4k tv and you want to take advantage of your 4k screen, get the pro. If you need another ps4, get the pro. If you want the most powerful comsole on the market today, get the pro. If you don't want the most powerful console today wait until sometime next year until the scorpio comes out or buy a wii u or xbox one s. You can watch movies on the one s but that's about it when it comes to 4k on the one s. Plenty of reasons to upgrade if you have a reason to upgrade.
