Panel not sold with unit. Have to buy separately. I haven’t tried to take the drive off so I don’t know what it look like without it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As of the November 2023 launch of the “slim” PS5 consoles, Sony has not yet made the replacement body panels available. That means that while one could remove the disc drive from a console, the only body panel that could be fit back on is the one to house the size of the drive. And in the reverse, Sony has promised that the digital version can be expanded to use a disc drive, but unless one has the alternate body panels, it would be open until they start selling additional panels. I would assume that they will likely start selling all of those fairly quickly, including some color options. But they aren’t available yet.
