Everything you need to hook up to a laptop or computer is included in the box. No extra purchase is required or necessary. Optional additional purchase would be an external hard drive is saving/storing alot of photos/ documents.

The scanner comes with everything you need to start scanning immediately. That includes the software (also downloadable), USB cable, power supply, calibration sheet, cleaning cloth, and scanner.
