You will need to find the exact model of the Inspiron. The 5000 series contains a few models that accept different memory. Please contact Dell and they should be able to direct you to what type of memory your particular model accepts.

It should since it is 1600mhz (1.6GHz). It works fine in my dell 15 7000 series laptop and it uses similar memory.
