• Yes, you can do a fresh install of an OS onto the SSD.

• Yes. I recommend creating a partition and drive letter first. The install will over write it, but it may not be recognized as a disk if you don't do this step first. This can be done in Windows.

• Yes, it's identical to a spinning drive as far as OS or data. No problem installing either MS or Ubuntu OS.
