I just purchased this but when I tried to use on my PS4, I found that it only has 230GB of free space. I have not used this, just took it out of the package. There is a "system volume information" folder on it. Can I delete that to get 256gb? null

The missing GB is for caching so it can read data faster.

There aren't any storage devices that let you use the entire advertised memory capacity. That is because the device uses a part of that memory to do its job. It's okay to delete any folders or reformat the drive by the way. Although, you still won't get the full advertised 256 GB.
