What is the trick to getting the caps off of these? null

The cover slides back to uncover the plug end. It has some resistance to it, which is intended to keep it from retracting unintentionally. Just apply a little muscle power to slide the retractable cover toward the end with the thumb indent.

Just slide the cap forward then it will flip but not removeable.
