• The ends of the USB 3.0 do not come off. The USB Connector is covered or is provided protection by the dark grey sleeve which slides down toward center of drive which then exposes connector when in use. When done just slide sleeve back to cover USB connection.

• The clear piece with the writing on it slides down to reveal the USB connection. One piece makes it good for not losing the cap.

• No the grey end does not come off. The male USB tip retracts inside the unit. The flash drive is retracted in the photo.

• Gray end does not come off. Just push really hard and the open end will stick out to attach to your computer. Or take it in to Best Buy and tech will force it open to show you how.
