It's really 10 times as fast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've purchased 30 PNY flash drives and 5 PNY & SanDisk smart drives since June, most for $14.99 or less. All four new Dell desktop and laptop units have all of their 3.0 flash drive receptacles filled with fast units, automatically backing up their respective computers. The PNY 3.0 units are really 10 times as fast as any of the others.

It’s a flash drive!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a USB-A 3.0 Flash Drive. It reads and writes quickly, what else can I say? So far it has been used to install linux, windows, and transfer files between computers and has done so up to expectations.

Q: QuestionDifference between a 2.0 and a 3.0 usb portAt the risk of sounding incredibly dumb, I need to know what the difference is between a 2.0 usb port and a 3.0 usb port. I THINK I have a 3.0 port on my computer but I am not sure. I also need a usb flash drive that is NOT compatible with Windows 8. Is the PNY - Turbo Plus 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive compatible with Windows 8?
Asked by NotTechSavvy.
- A:Answer Speed is the difference. USB 3 devices are multiple times faster than USB 2 devices. USB 3 devices always have blue colored connections if you look straight on at them. USB 3 devices are backwards compatible with USB 2 ports, although at the slower USB 2 speeds (but will not work in the much older 1.1 ports). USB 2 devices will work in USB 3 ports, but again at the slower USB 2 speeds.Additionally, there is really no reason to have a USB drive that has limited compatibility with either hardware or software. They should all just work in any system and any Operating system.

Q: Questionhow does the pny 32GB attach to the computwer? Does the gray end come off?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The ends of the USB 3.0 do not come off. The USB Connector is covered or is provided protection by the dark grey sleeve which slides down toward center of drive which then exposes connector when in use. When done just slide sleeve back to cover USB connection.

Q: QuestionDoes it come with password protection?I haven't had a thumb drive in a while. And I want to know if its protected by a password, as in plugging it in and a password screen open up before accessing the files.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, this thumb drive does not include any security like that. I just shows up as a new disk in the computer when you plug it in. Kingston makes some thumb drives called DataTravelers that include security, and Corsair makes a thumb drive named the "Padlock" that has a key code on it (sort of like what you see on some Ford cars to unlock the door). Hope that helps!
