• It is very common for any drive to show less storage space when formatted. There may also be files on the drive that are taking up space.

• all drioves are about 10% less than rounded up convention 16 - 32 - 64 etc

• Something about the directory and the space it uses to actually run the drive to store files uses up some of the space.

• Usually any flash drive shows the less than mentioned capacity. Normally it is 5-6% less but in your case it seems to be bit more around 10% less.

• Believe it or not it requires some memory to operate any storage device . So even if you by a terabyte hard drive down to a 512 mg thumb drive it needs some of that memory to operate

• There is probably firmware stored on the drive for proper operation which will lower the amount of available space.

• Because 57.6 GB doesn’t sound as cool. Actually, I believe it is because the device stores data to operate the drive. Hope this helps.

• Because a gigabyte is 1024 megabytes and marketing doesn’t count that extra 24. So you can have 64,000,000,000 and manufacturers say that’s close enough.

• Any drive that is measured in GB/TB or even MB has an amount of memory that has to be devoted to the self formatting if you will of the device itself. So basically even if something had 1000GB on the box-in all actually you the end user would only have access to about 986GB worth of space. Just a trend of the industry honestly
